The Lifenet EMS project has been in the works for over three years. The project began at Fishers FD and Wishard EMS. Each agency had begun looking for ways to improve their data collection. Independently of each other they came to the same conclusion that the Lifenet product was the best on the market. The task then became funding the initiative.
Both agencies went to the Urban Area Security Initiative meeting and presented their case as to why this program was needed. The UASI Working Group is a group of public safety and public health representatives who were awarded a federal grant to increase colloboration between Marion and Hamilton Counties in Indiana. At this point the two projects became one initiative to develop a robust electronic patient care reporting system that would serve the needs of both counties.
A steering committee was formed with three representatives from each county. Below is a list of former and current Steering Committee members.
